How to stop being blackmailed by webcam sex scammers
Online scam expert Wayne May gives advice about how to avoid becoming a victim of 鈥榮extortion鈥.
It is a form blackmail in which criminals trick victims into performing sexual acts online then threaten to share the images unless they are given money.
Mr May, who runs online community Scam Survivors, says his advisors have spoken to 15,000 victims in the past year.
He says the following things are warning signs that you might be dealing with a scammer
*What鈥檚 their language like? Someone becoming 鈥渧ery sexual, very quickly鈥 is a danger sign.
*What are they doing on-screen? If they are typing but you can鈥檛 see their hands tapping the keyboard, this may mean the footage is a pre-recorded video.
*Call the police if you are suspicious
