One giant leap for nuclear fusion
Experiments in Germany suggest we are a step closer to harnessing the power of nuclear fusion, which could generate clean, safe and limitless energy.
Scientists at the Max Planck Instite for Plasma Physics have discovered for the first time that they are able to produce high-quality magnetic fields.
Sam Lazerson, a research scientist involved in the project, said the test is a 鈥渇ork in the road kind of experiment鈥.
Sam said: 鈥淥ne of the goals is to show we can get out massive quantities of energy from the fusion reaction and sustain that for a long time.鈥
鈥淚f it works, it鈥檚 available to everyone,鈥 he added.
