Red-tailed hawk goes 'on the run'
Armed police have joined the hunt on the Isle of Wight for a red-tailed hawk which has escaped from a private home and has been seen feasting on red squirrels.
Red squirrels are a native protected species, whilst the bird is an import from America, where it is also known as the chicken hawk.
Steven Hain, a falconer on the Isle of Wight, told Mark Mardell that the local wildlife is not designed to cope with a red-tailed hawk.
