A Christmas Callow: Christmas Past
It's the first Sunday in advent, and time for a Christmas Callow. Simon Callow, to be precise. His one-man show of Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol at the Arts Theatre in London is a tale of redemption for the miser Scrooge.
As the ghosts spirit Scrooge from the present to his past and future, Dickens takes us from his dank house to cosier hearths, and offers a plea for justice and warm hearts. In this - the first of three installments - Simon Callow gives us a sneak preview of Dickens and the spirit of Christmas past.
