How do you become a comedy writer?

Comedy writers Barry Cryer and Sarah Morgan discuss what it takes to excel in their field

How do you get a break into the world of comedy writing? The David Nobbs Memorial Trust, established after the death of the Reggie Perrin creator, has just launched a comedy writing competition aimed at recognising and encouraging a writer early on in their career.

Barry Cryer, a seasoned comedy writer and friend of David Nobbs, and Sarah Morgan, whose writing credits include the Now Show and the Tracey Ullman Show, discuss what it takes to excel in their field.

Entries to the competition can be submitted from the 1st of January and the winner will be announced on the 1st of April.
