‘Amateur would beat McGregor blindfolded, never mind Mayweather’
Â鶹Éç boxing pundit Steve Bunce has dismissed the prospect of Floyd Mayweather Jr fighting UFC champion Conor McGregor.
Five-weight world champion Mayweather has offered McGregor $15m (£12.2m) to face him in the ring.
But Bunce said three-time Irish amateur champion Peter McDonagh would beat compatriot McGregor with a "blindfold on", never mind a fighter of the calibre of American Mayweather.
"There’s several Irish kids at the moment who are either amateur or Irish champions at lightweight, super-featherweight, light-welterweight that not only would fight Conor McGregor, they’d beat him," Bunce said.
"There’s a guy called Peter McDonagh who I think has won 18 and lost 19, or won 19 and lost 18. He’s a lovely fella. He’s from South London, he’s based out in Marbella.
"Peter McDonagh would beat Conor McGregor if he had a blindfold on, I can absolutely assure you," he added.
