Sir Mike Jackson: Shiner 'caused a great deal of pain'
The human rights lawyer Phil Shiner, who brought abuse claims against UK troops after the Iraq War, has been struck off for misconduct.
General Sir Michael Jackson was Chief of the General Staff at the time of the 2004 battle in Iraq.
He told The World at One that "the amount of pain and anxiety this man has burdened soldiers and their families with, is outrageous". He said if there is wrong-doing British soldiers should be investigated, "but this man has just been making things up".
