A dog owner has named a new puppy after a Princess Fiona from Shrek, after her chocolate Labrador gave birth to a green puppy.

The green tinge is down to over-exposure to a substance called biliverdin, which can be found in the placenta.

Her owner Elaine told 5 live:

"When she first came out she was an emerald green colour, I was a bit shocked."

“[But] the puppy has begun feeding and she's fine."
