Former army chief: Iraq probe closure 'long overdue'
The government has announced that a probe into allegations made against Iraq war veterans will be shut down within months
.
The Iraq Historic Allegations Team (IHAT) will close in the summer and around 20 remaining cases will be given to the Royal Navy Police.
General Sir Mike Jackson, chief of the general staff from 2003 to 2006, has welcomed the decision.
