Mum: ‘My miracle baby survived against the odds’
A teenage mum, Clare Conway, has described the joy of giving birth to a baby girl, despite advice from her doctors which suggested that the baby wouldn’t survive the pregnancy.
Kassadie-Maria – now six weeks old – was diagnosed with a rare heart condition when she was still in the womb, and doctors advised Clare to have a termination.
Speaking to 5 live Daily's Sam Walker, she said: “I was constantly saying, I don't want an abortion”. She said she “wanted to give her (daughter) the best chance to live”.
Clare added: “I didn't believe what they were saying about her being a stillborn”.
Baby Kassadie-Maria defied all odds and was born “screaming”. She's had an operation this week and is “doing well” at six weeks old.
