Antonio: AFC Wimbledon wouldn't pay £7 registration fee to sign me
West Ham United midfielder Michail Antonio reveals the numerous setbacks he faced before turning professional.
The 26-year-old wasn't on the books of a professional club until he was 18, before eventually progressing through the lower leagues and signing for the Irons in 2015.
Antonio explained that he worked his way up the ranks at non-league side Tooting & Mitcham United, but struggled to find a professional club.
"I've gone to AFC Wimbledon. They didn't want to pay for my registration fee. Seven pounds!"
The midfielder was rewarded for his good form with a call-up to the England squad in September.
