The Times cycling correspondent Jeremy Whittle discusses the controversy currently surrounding British Cycling and Team Sky.

When asked by 5 live Sport鈥檚 Jonathan Overend if there was a point where Team Sky boss and former British Cycling performance director Sir Dave Brailsford鈥檚 position becomes untenable, Whittle said: 鈥淚 think we鈥檙e there now."

"I think that was the feeling of most of the journalists at the select committee on Wednesday. Reading between the lines I feel that was the feeling of most of the MP鈥檚 who were listening as well."

鈥淚t鈥檚 worth pointing out that Dave Brailsford鈥檚 now told journalists that he had an injection from Richard Freeman of this product that he says he knew so little of back in. I think it鈥檚 five or six years ago now and also he didn鈥檛 mention this when he gave evidence at the hearing.

鈥淪o we are really struggling with his credibility as well as the credibility of Team Sky and British Cycling as a whole鈥�

On Wednesday a doctor who received a 'mystery package' for Sir Bradley Wiggins in 2011 told MPs he has no record of the latter's medical treatment at the time.

In 2014, ex-Team Sky medic Dr Richard Freeman had a laptop containing medical records stolen, the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee were told.

Team Sky and British Cycling's record-keeping was questioned in the hearing.

"No one has any recognition of what was in the package," UK Anti-Doping chief Nicole Sapstead said on Wednesday.
