Schools inspector warns of 'corrosive culture'
The new chief inspector of Schools in England says the curriculum is being made more narrow because of the pressure to perform well in league tables.
Amanda Spielman told the World at One that a minority of schools took inappropriate steps to remove children from league table statistics in what was "a corrosive culture".
She said the main focus of schools should be to offer "a full, broad, rich, deep education that equips children with the knowledge they need for adult life".
