Before Christmas the new owners of a piano decided to have it retuned and repaired and that is when they discovered something rather surprising.

In the piano was a hoard of gold that experts think was hidden there more than 100 years ago. An inquest has opened at Shrewsbury Coroner's Court to determine whether it should be classed as treasure, which would mean the current owners can keep it, or whether an heir to the find can be traced.

Peter Reavill who assesses finds for the British Museum Portable Antiquities Scheme, told Sarah Montague that it's a "potentially life-changing" discovery.
