Conservative MP defends employing spouse
New rules are to come into force after the next election, restricting MPs from employing spouses or relatives.
Conservative MP Bob Blackman defends employing his wife to run his office having never faced an interview.
Mr Blackman told Stephen Nolan he is acting within the rules and 鈥測ou have to be able to trust all of the individuals you employ鈥
鈥淭he public give me money to service the public in a way I envisage as being the best way to provide the service that I do seven days a week.鈥
When asked for the exact figure he pays his wife, he responded: 鈥淭hat鈥檚 a matter of public record.鈥
