Everton fan: I鈥檇 rather win trophies than play Champions League football
Everton fan Michael says that as a fan, he would choose winning trophies over finishing fourth and qualifying for the Champions League.
Reacting to the news that his club鈥檚 leading scorer Romelu Lukaku had turned down the offer of a new contract, Michael said: 鈥淗e wants to play in the Champions League, but if he鈥檚 listening to this, I鈥檇 bet he would rather be playing 30 or 40 games a season for Everton and playing every week than sitting on the bench at Real Madrid or Barcelona.
鈥淎s a fan, you want to win trophies. As a professional footballer, the only thing you care about is your pay cheque and the kudos of playing in the Champions League.鈥
Lukaku scored a brace in a 4-0 win against Hull City to ensure he became the first Everton player to score at least 20 league goals in a season since Gary Lineker hit 30 in 1985-86.
