Rachel was contacted by someone on Facebook who shared a link to a fake fundraising Go Fund Me page for a girl called Katie who had leukaemia.

Rachel said: 鈥淭he profile on social media was very real. This person said their brother had kindly donated 拢250 Argos vouchers and they were looking for minimum donations of 50 quid. In hindsight if something seems too good to be true it usually is.鈥�

The fake page had been copied from an authentic account which aimed to raise money for a six-year-old girl called Kimberley so she could go to Disneyland Paris after she finished treatment for leukaemia.

鈥淲hen the bank transfer went through, everyone was immediately blocked on Facebook, and that鈥檚 when the penny dropped,鈥� added Rachel, who then made a live video to explain the scam to others.
