Social care: The posties who also deliver TLC
Reporter Andrew Bomford continues his series looking at solutions to affordable care from around the country.
An unusual scheme on Jersey, in the Channel Islands, named Call and Check lets postal workers call in on elderly people living alone, to make sure they are well. If they need help with anything, it gets referred to voluntary groups or social services.
Postal worker Ricky Lacain, says the quick visits gives people "that little bit of independence so they don't have to go into an old people's home or hospital...it can only be a winner".
