More police officers 'not best way to spend money'
The former chief constable of Greater Manchester Police has said Labour's plans to introduce more police officers would "make a difference" but it "wouldn't be the best way of spending money".
Sir Peter Fahy told Edward Stourton: "I think what we don't need to get into is a sort of competition between politicians of who can promise the most police officers."
