Carlisle – Aaron Lennon could come back stronger
Former Burnley defender and ex PFA chairman Clarke Carlisle has offered his support for Aaron Lennon, who is suffering from a stress related illness and was detained under the Mental Health Act earlier this week. Carlisle, who himself suffered from depression during his career and even attempted suicide a few years ago, is relieved Lennon is now undergoing treatment. Carlisle hoped Lennon could come back a more rounded human being as well as a better football player. With timely advice at the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, Carlisle urged anyone who feels they may have an issue to ‘talk, talk...open your mouth immediately.’ To combat problems, he believes it’s vital to raise other people’s awareness of your circumstances, get interaction and find out what support mechanisms exist in your area.
