Only one in 100 football academy kids ‘will make it’
A sports writer has told 鶹 5 live that he’s been given stats from the FA, suggesting that only one in 100 children playing in a football academy at the age of nine will end up playing football professionally.
Michael Calvin told Adrian Chiles on 5 live Daily that clubs aren’t supporting children enough when they let them go.
He said: "It's about fulfilling a basic duty of care, and I think football treats its young without due care and attention”.
