Somali President calls for arms' embargo end to defeat al-Shabab
Farmajo warns the battle against al-Shabab could continue for a decade.
The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, has told an international gathering on Somalia that after decades of conflict and instability, the conditions are now in place for it to become a success story. Mr Guterres said the country now had a government that could be trusted and a plan that made sense. But President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed warned that the battle against al-Shabab Islamist militants would continue for a decade unless an arms embargo was lifted.
