Lib Dems say it is high time to legalise cannabis
The Liberal Democrats have confirmed that the party's election manifesto will include a commitment to legalise cannabis allowing it to be sold on the high street, and taxed.
The pledge makes the Liberal Democrats the first major party to back legalisation.
Liberal Democrat Julian Huppert told Radio 4's The World at One that by allowing anyone aged 18 and over to buy cannabis in licensed shops, it would "reduce crime, reduce mental health harm and there's tax money for the state which can be spent on education and treatment."
