Facial disfigurement: 'Behind that face is a person'
More than 80% of people with facial disfigurements have been abused or harassed in the street, according to a new report.
Louise Quarmby was born with a cleft lip and palate. She told 5 live Breakfast about the treatment she endures on a daily basis:
鈥淚 get stares on public transport, very rarely people say something and the comments they make are quite hurtful. Every time I go out of the house I have to prepare myself mentally.鈥
"Behind that face there is a person, that constant ridicule from other people, it does get your confidence down."
