Dad of kids with autism: 'It affects you in a traumatic way'

A dad of two sons with autism has described the impact caring for them has on his life and the hopes and fears he has for their future.

Rick Simpson told 5 live Breakfast:

鈥淓verything else in your life is put right down on the floor. You rip up any kind of idea of any kind of life plan and say 鈥榣et鈥檚 just deal with this on a daily basis, an hour-by-hour basis.鈥� It affects you in an absolutely traumatic way.鈥�

鈥淚 could not be more proud of them. They are making their way in their lives and hopefully the can have some sort of fulfilment but they are still on the edge of depression鈥� it tears me apart.鈥�
