Nick Ross: I predicted a 'catastrophe' would happen
The number of people believed to have died in the Grenfell Tower disaster in west London last week has risen to 79, and the police are warning that the figure could change.
Former Crimewatch presenter Nick Ross is President of the Kensington Society and has been campaigning for fire sprinklers to be fitted in social housing for the last 15 years.
He told Radio 4's World at One that he even met London mayor Sadiq Khan when he was Communities minister in Gordon Brown's administration, to lobby for their installation.
But he says, that as with previous ministers as far back as 2004, his request was turned down.
