Martha the Neapolitan mastiff has been crowned the World's Ugliest Dog at the annual contest held in Petaluma, California.

Martha, with owner Shirley Zindler, beat 13 other contenders to be presented with a trophy and a $1,500 (拢1,200) prize.

Shirley told 5 live Breakfast: 鈥淸We thought] she鈥檚 got some very unique features the crowd might enjoy so we just did it on a whim and it worked out.鈥�
