'Employers are beginning to sweat'
Frank Field, the chairman of the Work and Pensions Select Committee under the last parliament, has praised an announcement from food delivery firm Deliveroo stating it will pay sick pay and injury insurance to its riders.
The Labour MP told Shaun Ley "the employers are beginning to sweat, rather than just their work people".
Mr Field has published a number of reports on the gig economy for Theresa May, including one that culminated in a government-commissioned inquiry led by Matthew Taylor into controversial working practices.
He said: "I can't believe [Matthew Taylor] is not going to return to her with a series of far-reaching proposals."
"Theresa May will be serious about implementing the Taylor review."
