South Africa Could Make ‘Signing’ Official Language
South Africa could soon give sign language official status.
Campaigners are urging South African authorities to make sign language the country's 12th official language.
The country's deaf community, which has lobbied for the change, says official recognition would help "give them a voice".
A parliamentary constitutional review committee is recommending to the National Assembly that sign language be officially recognised,
