'This will be Conte's last season at Chelsea, whatever happens'
New York Times chief soccer correspondent Rory Smith believes there is 鈥渁n understanding that this will be Conte鈥檚 last season at Chelsea whatever happens鈥.
The Italian won the Premier League in his first season in English football, but Chelsea鈥檚 title defence got off to a shambolic start as they finished with nine men in a 3-2 home defeat to Burnley at the weekend.
The former Juventus boss signed an improved deal at Stamford Bridge over the summer, but did not extend the contract.
Smith says that Conte has always made clear his stay in West London would be a 鈥渟hort-term thing鈥.
