Executive pay: The 'unacceptable face of capitalism'?

Theresa May has said excessive salaries damage 'the social fabric of our country'

Businesses who pay excessive salaries to senior executives represent the "unacceptable face of capitalism", Theresa May has said. The Prime Minister says firms that face shareholder revolts over salaries and bonuses will be named on a new public register.

Sir Vince Cable, leader of the Liberal Democrats, says the new policy isn't "greatly different" from what we have at the moment and doesn't "take us forward" and Edwin Morgan, director of policy at the Institute of Directors, says "public and political pressure" does work so we would see a difference.
