Bob Geldof has handed back his Freedom of the City of Dublin in protest against the behaviour of Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who also holds the award.

Mr Geldof told the World at One "Dublin should not be associated with this woman."

Ms Suu Kyi has faced heavy criticism over her failure to address allegations of ethnic cleansing against Myanmar's Rohingya Muslims.

Mr Geldof added: "We gave her an honour and she threw it back in our face. Take her off the roll."
