Post-16 maths: Fractions clip 2
When you split a whole thing into equal parts you get fractions. If you split something in two parts 鈥� you get halves. If you split something into 4 equal parts that鈥檚 quarters. The number on the bottom of a fraction tells you how many the whole has been divided into. The number on the top of a fraction tells you how many parts of the whole you have. Different fractions can represent the same amount of the whole 鈥� 2/4 is the same as 陆 or 2/6 is the same as 1/3.
Fractions can also be written as decimals and percentages. The main ones are 陆, 50%, 0.5 and 录, 0.25, 25% and 戮, 75%, 0.75 they鈥檙e common so it鈥檚 worth learning them.
