Turtle doves in danger of extinction
Turtle doves are the UK's fastest declining bird species and they are threatened with global extinction.
Jamie Wyver is part of the team running Operation Turtle Dove, a partnership between the RSPB, the Pensthorpe Trust and Natural England. He told the World at One that "the issues [turtle doves] face are complex".
Mr Wyver added that, "farmers and landowners play a crucial role" in reversing the decline and that following Brexit, the government could "incentivise farmers more" to look after wildlife on their land.
