The boy who inspired the change in organ donation
Nine-year-old Max Johnson, who waited ten months for a heart transplant, has inspired the government to change the law to an opt-out organ donor scheme.
In England, people must sign up if they want to donate their organs after their death. In Wales patients are assumed to agree to donate organs unless their families strongly object. Scotland is about to do something similar.
Max tells Radio 4's Manveen Rana "I want to save people's lives because I know what it feels like". He added
"If we do change the law, hopefully people will get their transplants quicker."
