What was the famous Sports Report music originally for?

The theme music to the world's longest-running sports programme, Sports Report was written for something very different, explains the composer's grandson.

Mike Bath, grandson of composer Hubert Bath told 5 live Breakfast that the tune 鈥極ut of the Blue鈥� had originally been written for the RAF:

鈥淚t was written for an aerodrome display at Hendon Aerodrome in London for the RAF marching band.鈥�

The programme has used the music since it started in 1948.
