South Africa鈥檚 Liesl Tommy was nominated for a Tony Award in 2016 for directing a play about the Liberian war, Eclipsed, starring Kenya's Oscar winner Lupita Nyon'go.

It was recently announced that the US-based theatre director and actress will direct the film adaption of Trevor Noah's book Born a Crime.
