Employment for prisoners
Prisoners could be released to work on a temporary license to cut reoffending
More prisoners could be released to work on a temporary license under a government strategy to cut reoffending. The proposal is part of a broad plan announced by the justice secretary, which includes a new body to match employers with offenders. Kierron is a former offender who says he had difficulty finding work because of his convictions, but is now employed. Former prison governor John Podmore says employers are keen to work with prisoners and Justice Secretary David Gauke says this scheme is a great opportunity for both prisoners and employers.
