Italy refuses migrant ship
A rescue ship carrying 629 migrants was refused permission to dock by Italy
A rescue ship carrying 629 migrants was stranded in the Mediterranean after Italy's new interior minister refused permission for it to dock. Matteo Salvini, leader of the right-wing League party, promised during Italy's recent general election to take a tough stance against migration. Guglielmo Picchi, who is an adviser to Matteo Salvini, says that it is the EU who should take responsibility for migrants. Nick Romaniuk is the search and rescue coordinator for the Aquarius vessel and says this move marks a huge shift in policy from the Italian government.
