Immigration cap

Foreign doctors and nurses will be excluded from any visa cap under new immigration rules

Immigration rules are expected to be relaxed to allow more workers into the UK and visas for doctors and nurses will be excluded from any cap. It means it will possibly allow thousands more skilled workers like IT experts, engineers and teachers to come to this country. Deputy chief executive of NHS Providers, Saffron Cordery, welcomes the move while Alp Mehmet, the vice chair of the immigration think tank, Migration Watch, says the UK should be training more of its own doctors and nurses.
