The African giant poached rat is a huge cat-size rodent native to central Africa. It doesn't see well but its sense of smell is exceptional.

The Belgian non-profit group APOPO has trained an army of them to detect landmines around the world.

Ashley Fitzpatrick, from APOPO in Mozambique, explains how they train the rats.
