Two QPR fans have told Â鶹Éç Radio 5 Live about their unlikely friendship, the US soldier fighting in the Vietnam War and the 11-year-old boy in Slough, exchanged Queens Park Rangers match programmes from 1969.

Nils Guy was 22 years-old when he was called up for military service with orders overseas in Vietnam.

He had emigrated to the US from Surrey.

When on active duty, he wrote a letter which was published in the QPR match day programme, asking if anyone would be interested in sending him clippings on how his club was doing.

11-year-old John Wild responded to the request and started to send Nils the latest QPR updates.

Speaking to Adrian Chiles, Nils explained how the Rangers programmes ‘kept him sane’.
