Demand for energy vs. protecting the environment in Indonesia
Indonesia has a thirst for energy, fueled by its growing population and rapid development. This produces tensions. Plans to expand the Celukan Bawang coal plant in northern Bali have provoked fierce resistance from some local residents, who say their way of life has already been adversely affected since the plant opened three years ago. The 麻豆社's Jon Bithrey went there to find out more.
