Why are Egypt hosting AFCON when their stadiums are empty?

Egypt has been named as the new hosts of this year's Africa Cup of Nations, after the original hosts Cameroon were stripped of the right. African football's governing body, the Confederation of African Football, cited delays in the progress of Cameroon's preparation for the tournament, which is due to start in June.

It will be the fifth time Egypt, who won AFCON when it last hosted in 2006, has staged the competition. And they now have just five months to prepare for the expanded 24-team finals and overcome security issues in the country and around football games.

Egyptian football journalist Marwan Ahmed shares his thoughts on how successful Egypt will be as hosts.
