'It's a life or death situation'
In 2014, footballer Hakeem Al Araibi was sentenced to 10 years in prison for vandalising a police station in his native Bahrain. He denied the charges and fled to Australia fearing for his safety
Hakeem started a new life and was granted political asylum in 2017. He got married and decided to take his wife on honeymoon to Thailand. However, authorities detained him at a Bangkok airport last November because the Bahrain government issued a warrant for his arrest.
He has remained in prison ever since.
