The Kenyan government says more than 1.1 million people are facing food shortages
Kenyans hit out at their government over drought and food shortages, following 10 reported deaths in the north-western Turkana region.
Appeals for urgent help are being sent for the people affected by flood waters caused by Cyclone Idai which hit Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi last week.
And Nigeria's minister of education has warned that parents who refuse to send their children to school will be prosecuted.
