Festival season begins!

The Rustic Folk, Acoustic and Roots Festival has returned to Hopleys in Bewdley for a second year.

Combining great acoustic music from touring artists and local acts, with a great atmosphere, great food and local beers.
Ìý
They say: "Family and dog friendly, it's a lovely start to festival season."

Musicians' Masterclass

It started as small gathering back in 1970; you could get in for £1, you'd get free milk and it brought together 1,500 people. Glastonbury has now expanded to be one of the most famous festivals in the world with 175,000 people there last year across 100 stages.

1971 saw the first incarnation of the Pyramid Stage - a 1/10th replica of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Performers, that year, included David Bowie and Fairport Convention.

Emily Eavis is the godmother of festivals and is responsible for booking acts like Jay-Z, Kanye West, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce and many, many more. Glastonbury and Â鶹Éç Introducing have worked together to create one of the most sought-after stages at the festivals for new artists.

Â鶹Éç Music Introducing in Droitwich

This month's live sessions come from the Norbury Theatre in Droitwich.Ìý

The 176-seat venue, which is run by local volunteers, hosts a variety of events from plays, cinema screenings and live streaming from the West End.

The venue is situated inside Norbury House, an Art Deco building which started life as a luxury hotel - although it's role of putting up guests overnight was reasonably short-lived, having been used as a military hospital in WWII.

The Norbury Theatre came into being in 1962 for the sole purpose for local amateur societies having a venue to perform at.

Nowadays, they share Norbury House with 96 flats. The theatre takes up the largest area of the building, including dressing rooms on the first floor, extensive properties storage in the cellars and scenery in the old kitchens! Not forgetting, of course, the auditorium, foyer and stage!

Ben Hemming was born in Hereford and raised in Bromyard, but he's travelled the world with his music.

Having played shows in New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, Chicago, New York, Washington DC, Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, Prague, Krakow and St Petersberg, Ben says he misspent his youth hammering away at an old six string guitar to hone the songwriting talent he has today.

Several of his songs have featured on the cover of Blues Magazine.
