Thousands of opposition supporters have taken to the streets of several cities in Malawi to protest against last month's re-election of President Peter Mutharika.

Ethiopia has passed a new proclamation that grants close to a million refugees the right to move outside camps, to obtain work legally and get certificates for vital events including like birth and marriage.

And security has been stepped up in the Koro district of central Mali after a suspected jihadist attack killed 41 people this week.
