Gordon Brown: The G7 is impotent

Former prime minister Gordon Brown on why he opposes an early general election.

Gordon Brown, the former prime minister, reveals his fears about divisions between the world's major leaders.

Speaking on the Today programme he also says that a general election is not the right answer to stop a no-deal Brexit.

"My view is that an election at this point will not solve the problem we have - and the problem we have is making sure that we do not inflict harm on ourselves, by leaving the EU with no deal."
