Why I thanked a man for shooting me
It seems unthinkable that someone would say that getting shot was "the best thing" to ever happen to them, but Wesley Hamilton certainly believes it. When Wesley was in his early 20s he was unhappy, overweight, and dealing drugs. Then, just after he turned 24, he was shot by a stranger and paralysed.
As the years went on, he was able to get fit and healthy, even becoming a bodybuilding champion and doing a star turn on the makeover show Queer Eye. Then last year Wesley came face to face with his attacker – and thanked him.
